👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For families with children

Boží Dar and the Ore Mountains are perfect for a family holiday. Fairy-tale nature trails, playful areas full of fun, playgrounds and adventurous trips into nature await you. Together you will experience days full of laughter, adventure and unforgettable experiences.

 


🌿The Ježíšek Trail

The fairy-tale nature trail starts right at our guesthouse and offers two options - a shorter one (5.6 km) and a longer one (12.9 km). Enchanted houses, game stops and challenges await you along the route. The children write down the tasks in the Ježíšek notebook, which can be purchased at the Information Centre, and a reward awaits them at the end. Fun and adventure in nature for all generations.


🪵 Božídarské peat bog

A unique 3.2 km long nature trail leads along wooden paths directly through the peat bog, which is the largest in the Ore Mountains. The route is easy and can be managed even by smaller children or strollers. Along the way you will discover ponds, rare plants and learn in a fun way how the peat bog is formed and why it is so important.

 


🐻 Bear Trail in Jáchymov

The short trail, about 3.5 km long, starts at the Curie Spa House and leads through a beautiful forest. Wooden statues and plaques remind visitors of the time when bears lived in the Ore Mountains. Thanks to the easy terrain, even smaller children can manage it.

 


👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Novako - family area

A year-round area right on Bozi Dar, where children are never bored. In the summer you can ride down the slope on carts, you will find trampolines, climbing frames, playground, a small rope park and a water world.

 


🏔️ Klínovec - children's world and attractions

The highest mountain of the Ore Mountains (1244 m) is a great destination for families. There is a Children's World with trampolines, climbing frames, a rope centre and playgrounds, as well as a pump track and a skill centre for small cyclists. Thanks to the cable car, the summit is easily accessible even with children, and the lookout tower offers a magnificent view of the Ore Mountains.

 


🛷 Summer bobsleigh tracks

An adrenaline rush that the whole family will enjoy. In the summer you can try a bobsleigh track - one in Plešivec and the other in nearby Oberwiesenthal, Germany. You can look forward to a ride full of turns and an unforgettable experience.

 


🚂 Steam train Fichtelbergbahn, Oberwiesenthal

The historic steam railway that connects Oberwiesenthal with Cranzahl. The journey through the valleys and forests of the foothills of the Erzgebirge is an unforgettable experience not only for children but also for adults.

Thanks to its location in the Ore Mountains and its altitude, the season lasts long and the conditions are great for families with children, beginners and experienced skiers. Directly from our guesthouse you can go on cross-country skiing trails, ski resorts and sledding slopes.

 

🔁 CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING TRAILS

Boží Dar is rightly considered the heart of cross-country skiing in the Ore Mountains. Dozens of kilometres of regularly groomed trails lead directly from our guesthouse, which are suitable for beginners and families with children as well as for experienced cross-country skiers. Here you will find short circuits ideal for an afternoon trip, as well as long all-day routes along the Erzgebirge Highway, which connects the mountain ridge on both the Czech and German sides.

The advantage of Boží Dar is the reliable snow cover from the beginning of winter until spring. And if nature should happen to be unkind, just a few minutes away – in Oberwiesenthal, Germany – you will find a modern cross-country ski area with an artificially snow-covered loop, which allows training even when there is no snow elsewhere.


⛷️ KLíNOVEC SKI AREA

The largest and most modern resort in the Ore Mountains with more than 30 km of slopes of all levels of difficulty. The resort offers lifts, a snow park, children's zones and night skiing. Thanks to the connection with the German Fichtelberg, the InterSkiregion Fichtelberg-Klínovec ioffers more than 40 km of slopes.


👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 NOVAKO - CHILDREN AND FAMILY AREA

The Novako family ski area is located directly on Boží Dar and is ideal for children and beginners. Here you will find practice slopes, a mobile carpet for comfortable ascent, equipment rental and a ski school. Children can learn their first turns safely and enjoy sledging or snowtubing. Thanks to the clear and friendly environment, the whole family will love Novako.


🎿 SKI RESORT HRANICE

This small family-run ski resort right on Boží Dar is the ideal place for your first turns on skis. Thanks to the clear and gentle slopes, children feel safe here and learning goes quickly. The Fun Ski School, which teaches children how to ski in a playful way, ensures fun and motivation. Instead of stress, little skiers experience joy, laughter and a sense of achievement.

 


🏂 NEKLID SKI RESORT

A ski resort (nowadays belonging to the Klínovec Ski Resort) also right next to Boží Dar, known for its sporty atmosphere and snowboarding tradition. Today it offers moderately difficult slopes, ideal for recreational and more experienced skiers.


🚠 OBERWIESENTHAL & FICHTELBERG (GERMANY)

Just a few minutes away is Oberwiesenthal, the highest town in Germany. Its dominant feature is the Fichtelberg mountain (1,215 m), which together with KlÍnovec is part of the interconnected ski region InterSkiregion Fichtelberg-Klínovec. In addition to the slopes, it offers a cable car, toboggan runs and the typical atmosphere of a German mountain town.


🛷 SLEDDING AND BOBSLEDDING

In addition to the ski resorts, you can also enjoy plenty of winter fun off the slopes at Boží Dar. Right in the town there are dedicated slopes for sledding and bobsledding, where children and adults can enjoy the joy of moving on the snow. These experiences illustrate the true winter atmosphere of Boží Dar.


SKI AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKI RENTALS

Don't have your own equipment? No problem. There are several rental shops right in Boží Dar where you can rent complete equipment for both adults and children for the slopes, cross-country skiing and snowboarding. Of course, you can also rent helmets and other accessories, so everyone can enjoy winter fun.

 

🥾 Hiking and walking tours

Boží Dar is an ideal starting point for short walks and day hikes. You will find easy nature trails suitable for families with children, but also more demanding routes with climbs to peaks and lookout towers.

 

  • Lookout tower at Neklid - a short walk directly from Boží Dar to the new lookout tower "Boží vyhlídka",  with a beautiful view of the Ore Mountains. Ideal as an afternoon trip with children.

  • Boží Dar peat bog (nature trail) - a comfortable route along wooden paths through the protected peat bog. An easy path suitable for strollers and smaller children.

  • Božídarský Špičák (1115 m) - a hike to the highest basalt mound in Central Europe. A short hike with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

  • Klínovec (1244 m) - the highest mountain of the Ore Mountains offers a wonderful panoramic view from a modern lookout tower. Even the fittest children can make the journey to the top, and the reward is refreshments and a well-deserved rest right at the top.

  • Oberwiesenthal ( Germany) - The highest town in Germany, to which a pleasant route leads from Boží Dar. The picturesque town below the Fichtelberg is ideal for a trip with children, with the possibility of combining it with a visit to the Underwater World or a ride on the steam train.

  • Blatenský vrch (1043 m) - a lookout tower with views of the Ore Mountains. On the way you will meet the remains of tin mines and the historic Blatenský Water Canal.

  • Plešivec (1028 m) - a popular destination with a lookout tower, a rope park, a bobsled run and beautiful views. Can be connected with the route through Abertamy.

  • Erzgebirge Highway - the main ridge route connecting the Czech and German parts of the mountains. Suitable for day trips or shorter sections according to possibilities.

Boží Dar is also a paradise for cyclists. Thanks to its location on the mountain ridge, it offers countless possibilities - from easy trails suitable for families with children to challenging mountain hikes for experienced bikers.

 

Directly from Boží Dar there are marked cycling routes that will take you through the beautiful nature of the Erzgebirge Highway and picturesque forest paths. Trips to Germany are popular, where well-maintained cycle paths await.

 

For adrenaline lovers there is the Klínovec Trail Park, which is one of the largest and most modern in the country. It offers trails of varying difficulty from easy flow trails for beginners to challenging downhill runs for experienced riders. Thanks to the cable car, you can easily ride your bike to the top and enjoy a ride full of turns and terrain waves on the way down.

Don't have your own bike? No problem! There are several rental shops in the Boží Dar area where you can choose from a wide range of bikes – from mountain bikes and children's bikes to modern electric bikes. The offer also includes the rental of helmets, child trailers and seats, so the whole family can enjoy a bike trip. You can find rental shops directly in Boží Dar or at Klínovec.

 

 

⛏️ History, adits and traditions

The Ore Mountains have a rich mining history, which is listed by UNESCO. In the surroundings of Boží Dar you will find accessible adits, historical towns and museums that show local life and crafts. The region is also famous for its traditional production of wooden toys and nativity scenes, which are still part of its inherent charm.

 

  • Johannes Adit - a unique UNESCO mining monument. An authentic tour takes you directly underground to learn how tin was extracted and how hard the miners' work was.

  • Jáchymov - a mining town famous for its coinage and mining. Here you will find the Royal Mint with its museum, the Mining Museum and nature trails that recall the modern history connected with uranium.

  • Horní Blatná and the Blatná Water Canal - a  picturesque town with a well-preserved historic centre and a nature trail around the canal, which was used to drain the mines.

  • Mauritius Mine (Horní Blatná) - one of the largest tin mines in the Czech Republic. A guided tour will show you the mysterious underground spaces and impressive mining technology.

  • Oberwiesenthal (Germany) - the highest town in Germany (914 m above sea level) with a rich tradition. Here you will find the Oberwiesenthal Museum, which presents the history of the town, skiing and mining. Another interesting feature is the Fichtelberg-Bahn Museum, where you can learn about the steam railway that still carries visitors between Cranzahl and Oberwiesenthal.
  • Museums in Karlovy Vary - in addition to the spa tradition, the Karlovy Vary Museum is worth a visit, with exhibitions on the history of the town and porcelain, or the Becherovka Museum dedicated to the famous herbal liqueur.

  • Erzgebirge traditions and crafts - the area is famous for the production of wooden toys, nativity scenes and illuminated Christmas pyramids. During Advent, don't miss the Christmas markets in Annaberg or the mining parades that have been part of the region for centuries.
